Lantern Floating Just Finished

Lantern Floating Hawaii .. Celebreted on Monday, May 31, 2010, 6.30 p.m. at Magic Island -Ala Moana Beach Park (Hawaii).

About the event :
Lantern floating is an Asian spiritual tradition that beautifully symbolizes the wish for all beings to live in peaceful coexistence. As the lanterns are released onto the ocean they take with them our healing prayers for victims of conflict, famine, disaster and disease as well as our hopes for the happiness of all―― past, present and future.

Lantern Floating Hawaii is open to people of any religion, or no religion. It expresses a wish for all beings to value one another and cooperate in creating a better world. On memorial day, over 2,000 candle-lit lanterns will be released onto the ocean. There will also be a chance for you to offer a personal remembrance or prayer for your departed loved ones by placing their names on a lantern.

सामाखुशी शिन्न्यो-एन द्वारा शिन्न्यो-एन का बिबिध ब्रान्च हरु भ्रमण गर्ने क्रममा २०६६ बैसाख ११ गते (२४ अप्रिल २०१०) मा शिन्न्यो-एन को फिस्लिंग साखा भ्रमण गरेको छ . काठमाडौँ बाट करिब ९५ किलोमिटरको बस यात्रा पछी पुगिने सो स्थान चितवन जिल्ला को दारेचोक गा. वि. स. वार्ड न. ९ स्थित फिस्लिंग बजार मा पर्दछ . सामाखुशी शिन्न्यो-एन का १० जना सदस्य हरु उपस्थित भएर गरिएको सो भ्रमण कार्यक्रमले सबै एकजुट भएर नेपाल मा शिन्न्यो-एन लाई अगाडी लैजान को लागि निकै सहयोग पुगेको हामीले महसुस गरेका छौं. करिब ३ बर्ष अगाडी (२०६४) स्थापना भएको सो ब्रान्च अत्यन्तै प्रभावकारी ढङ्ग ले अगाडी बढेको कुरा त्यहाको उपस्थिति र कार्यक्रम को प्रभावकारिता बाट थाहा पाउन सकिन्छ. प्राय सबै फिस्लिंगवासी हरु लाई शिन्न्यो-एन को बारेमा जानकारी हुनु र सहयोगी भावना को बिकाश हुनु ले पनि यो कुरा थप प्रस्ट हुन्छ. यसरि भ्रमण को कार्यक्रम गर्ने मौका दिनु भएको मा हामी फिस्लिंग शिन्न्यो-एन का जिम्मेवार लगायत सम्पूर्ण फिस्लिंग टिम लाई धेरै धेरै धन्यबाद दिन चाहन्छौ , साथै आउदा दिनहरुमा पनि यस्तो सहकार्य र सम्बन्ध को अपेक्ष्या गर्दछौं . साथै शिन्न्यो-एन फिस्लिंग को अझ उतरोतर प्रगति को कामना गर्दछौं .

What is “Feast of Nirvana”?

About 2,500 years ago, in the middle of the second month of the ancient Indian Lunar calendar, Shakyamuni Buddha is said to have given his final teachings. These teaching were put together and conveyed to us in the form of the Nirvana Sutra. The Buddha than passed in to “complete Nirvana” (Parinirvana) just after giving his last teachings. The “Feast of nirvana” is a service to commemorate this important event and an occasion to express our gratitude to “Ever-Present Shakyamuni Tathagata” that lives on as a “dharma body”.Shakyamuni Buddha set out on his final journey when he was 80 years old. Along the way he became seriously ill, and when he reached a place called Kushinsgara he laid himself down between a pair of twin sala trees. There, monastics, lay followers, celestial beings, and even animals gathered around him, wishing to make a final offering. Shakyamuni declined their offerings of flowers and incense, saying that the gretast possible offering is to express the teaching correctly in actions done for the sake of others. To make point clear, he accepted only the last offering made by Chunda, A lay follower, who had put the Buddha’s teaching and had guided many others to the teaching.The principle image of Shinnyo-en is the Reclining Buddha, also known as the Nirvana Buddha. It depicts Shakyamuni Buddha at the time he gave his final teachings. To guide us in our meditation, Shinnyo Kyoshu-sama said, “When we gaze at the image, we return to the past, 2,500 years ago, when the Buddha gave his last discourse on great nirvana. In our hearts and minds, we can envision receiving the teaching directly from him, and offer prayers of gratitude for this rare opportunity.” [Pursuing the Way, pg 84] The “Feast of Nirvana”, together with the “Festival of the Buddha’s Birth” and the “Feast of Enlightenment”, gave us an opportunity to express gratitude and joy for having been able to encounter and practice the Buddha’s teaching in our lifetime.

Shinnyo-en is a Buddhist denomination originally established in Japan. Today it has temples and meeting places in various countries headquartered in Japan. Its name means "a borderless garden of shinnyo". It is, first and foremost, a place for Buddhist training, in which all people regardless of age, gender, nationality, or religious background can cultivate their innate buddha nature, the kernel of enlightenment existing in all beings. Founder Shinjo Ito, who became a monk of Shingon Buddhism (Japanese esoteric Buddhism), pursued and established a way for lay practitioners to grasp the essence of Buddhist teachings: liberation from the ignorance and craving that cause suffering in people's daily lives. Along with holding traditional Buddhist services, he developed an effective mentoring framework and sesshin meditative training based on concepts in the Nirvana Sutra.

Buddhism is a teaching in which you work toward becoming a “Buddha”, someone who is fully awakened. The historical Buddha, named Shakyamuni, was born almost 2,600 years ago in Nepal. He sought wisdom that could free humans of their sufferings and allow them to pursue their true, unlimited Buddha potential. After six years of struggle, he was enlightened, and spent the rest of his life sharing what he realized. Over time, “Buddha” came to refer not only to Shakyamuni, but to anyone who embodies the same, universal wisdom and compassion that the historical Buddha demonstrated. Notable among the many teachings taught by the historical Buddha is the principle of cause and effect: that everything is connected and interrelated. Another of his teachings is the Middle Way, the avoidance of extremes. The Buddha taught that this opens the eyes, produces wisdom, and leads to peace, insight, enlightenment, in other words, nirvana.
